I have been to Amigos twice and both times it was excellent. The Fajitas were amazing, chilli beer is delicious and the homemade corn chips are something special. I would highly recommend this restaurant for large or small groups. The portion sizes are generous and the staff are super friendly.

I followed up on Amigos after hearing of someone elses positive experiance there and suggested it to a friend for her birthday. Thankfully I made the right suggestion. We had a group of 30 for dinner on a saturday night and everybody had a fantastic time! The set menu had something delicous for everyone and food arrived quickly. We watched 3 different live acts throughout the night and the band even allowed a speech over the microphone! Staff were friendly and coped very well considering they had a full house and one wait staff on that night to take and deliver our orders. The atmosphere was great! A good place to take groups. It is noisey although I cannot comment on what it is like during the week but the noise is the sound of everyone having a good time! Drinks are reasonably priced in comparison to other restaurants plus they have lots of specials and its b.y.o. I will definitely return

Had heard some really great things about this place so was really keen to get in there and taste what this restaurant had to offer, this however was not the case and the disappointing food proved to be the biggest let down of the night.
I think amigos need to reevaluate the price of the food on offer as its not up to the standard of some of the better cheap eats here in wellington.
I had a prawn starter which i thought was a main as it was on the same page as the mains and the price tag of $15 also made me think this, but, when it arrived i found that it was merely 5 pre frozen prawn cutlets swimming in oil with a bit of chili and some garlic clearly not worth $15 i could have bought 3 packs of the same prawns from the supermarket and made the same thing for way less, so i thought i would try something else, something diffrent,i tried a dish that sounded pretty interesting, french fries with slices of beef and chicken, covered with egg and grilled with cheese, again very disappointing, there were no french fries but big steak cut chips no slices of meat just dried up hunks that felt like it had just been nuked in the microwave over scrambled eggs and no cheese! not worth anything close to the $19 price tag disgusting couldn’t even think about eating this.
The evening went on with my tummy grumbling, i must say the band that played and the atmosphere they created were fantastic, unfortunately this will not be enough for me to return, i only gave it 2 stars because of the band. Don’t waste your money here, there a better cheaper eats worth visiting.Comment from Cristian R.of Amigos Latin Restaurant & Bar 29/06/2010hello, I would like to say that that the prawn dish is an… More » -

The food here is really delicious, and the staff are lovely. We had a great night – I hope this place does well! It’s not expensive either, and while the drinks can be a little pricey they always have lots of specials on throughout the week. Definitely recommend it, and we’ll be coming back again for sure.
