What a great place. We dined with a large group on a Saturday night. The food was excellent, and the staff genuinely warm, friendly and helpful. The decor manages to combine fun and comfort – lots of old photographs, artworks and advertisements – and provides plenty to talk about if you need a conversation starter. The menu is kiwiana based, delicious and beautifully presented. The kiwiana theme makes it a great choice when entertaining those conservative diners who can only eat things which were available in their childhood. Will definitely go again.

I’m gonna jump on the 5 star bandwagon here. It is this sort of place that makes Wellington so damn cool.
The service was so delightfully friendly, we felt like distinguished guests – cafe staff were part tour-guide in spirit.
The decor and ambience are so gorgeous. The date scone was really delicious. Coffee was just ok to be honest, but the experience so good that I can’t bear to take off a star. -

A quaint, secluded treasure. Ordered the Ploughman’s Lunch For Two midweek. It was great. The salad was excellent, pate delicious, and serving sizes were generous.
We were so impressed we returned for dinner on Saturday, and ordered the Chicken Maryland. Nice and homely, without compromising on quality. I would love to bring my Nana, but I fear she would not get up the stairs.
THe surroundings are brilliant. You must visit Arthur’s -

We used to live round the corner from Authur’s and have eaten there a good handful of times now, and never been disappointed with lunch or dinner. Love the roast port and the chicken schnitzel. We recently had a huge birthday dinner there and they accommodated us beautifully. Love the owners and staff and the red lipstick that they all wear! The only suggestion I’d make is that they improve their breakfast, that’s the only meal I’ve had there that I haven’t fully enjoyed. Well worth a visit…and then keep going back. Thank you!
