Brother to Martha's Pantry, Arthur's is a Cuba St bistro providing wholesome, homely and hearty kiwi cuisine in a relaxing two-storey Edwardian building with a sunny courtyard. The homely decor is eclectic and reminiscent of a bygone era. There are ample nooks, upstairs, outside or downstairs to suit any kind of occasion - whether an intimate tryst for two, a social gathering or a larger function. Colder weather brings out blankets and hot water bottles for those who wish to still enjoy the outdoor courtyard. You can also entertain yourselves with board games available. Make yourself at home! Arthur's On Cuba serves hearty New Zealand cuisine all day - from breakfast to dinner. Check out our menus, where you'll find kiwi treasures such as the dinner menu's pork crackling as an entree, through to a full roast, veggies and gravy. We also offer a thoughtfully crafted wine list and a great range of beer (including Moa on tap), plus top-notch coffee and a wide selection of teas.

I’m gonna jump on the 5 star bandwagon here. It is this sort of place that makes Wellington so damn cool.
The service was so delightfully friendly, we felt like distinguished guests – cafe staff were part tour-guide in spirit.
The decor and ambience are so gorgeous. The date scone was really delicious. Coffee was just ok to be honest, but the experience so good that I can’t bear to take off a star.

Went here late one Saturday night for the first time, obviously starting to clean up for the night but the happy waitress seated us with a smile, I ordered the fish but asked to change the brocilli as not a huge fan, waitress asked what I’d prefer instead, I said was happy with carrots, she asked how I’d like them cooked and I said I wasn’t fussed.
Meals came out, my fish was fresh and perfectly cook with steamed carrots, a carrot salad and some roast carrots ( my friend having the roast). How many restuarants would go to that amount of trouble. Great main for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend for casual dining.

A restaurant like no other. The food, staff and ambience create the feeling of a home away from home. We went for lunch and sat in their rustic courtyard. I shall be returning here soon to dine in one of the delightful upstairs dining rooms. Well done Arthur’s, you really are a Wellington gem!

I had been to Arthur’s before and really enjoyed it, I’m not sure whats happened though – popped in on Sunday 27th October for brunch and was put off for life. There was a huge wait for coffees and almost 40+ mins for breakfast. The food was great eventually however the whole experience was well and truly ruined by the kitchen staff.
I’m unsure of what as going on in the kitchen but the language coming out of a female was foul. F this and f that, it was like hearing a bad domestic argument and the language carried through the whole house. The most awkward dining experience of my life. We were seated upstairs next to a family – even the young children were commenting on it.
We asked about our food, ate and went to pay, the kitchen staff were yelling at customers to just f off as they paid, we were offered free coffees but would you have waited around for them? This is never acceptable in my mind – I will never return!
