This is a great venue to relax in. Lots of easy listening live music and very good food and well selected wines. This is all backed up by friendly and obliging staff. I’d rate Daddy O’s as a venue targeting the mid price market but delivering well above expectations. Since discovering this venue I’ve been a regular repeat customer and was really impressed tonight when the manager recognised this and took the time to come to my table and talk with me. The live entertainment was also excellent. Highly recommended as an affordable quality dining and entertainment experience!

A response of “we are not getting any money out of this” from the restaurant will always remind me why we will not be returning.
We tried this restaurant on two occasions. We first tried this restaurant through a voucher for our anniversary celebration. The food was good and we enjoyed our time there so we decided to book a birthday there the following weekend. We had originally planned to go some place else but decided to change the venue to Daddy O’s instead because we wanted to introduce what we thought was a hidden gem at the time to our friends and family.
The second time was the following Friday night when we bought a party of 20 to Daddy O’s for a birthday celebration. While I do note that some of our friends arrived late, the mains that was ordered by the guests who arrived on time took over 40 minutes to arrive. Everyone was hungry and complained about the time they took to prepare out meals. Furthermore, the meals when they did arrive, especially the spicy fish, was salty and the meat was over cooked.
What was more disappointing towards the end of the night was the service and attitude we got from one particular waitress. The waitress was more concerned with monetary gains of cutting up a cake than the overall revenue we helped generate by bringing in a party of 20. The cake was hard to cut so we asked one of the waitresses if she could kindly assist us, but she flatly and rudely declined by saying, “we are not getting any money out of this”.
If a restaurant is more concerned with generating revenue for every single service that they provide with little regard to good customer service and basic courtesy, I do not think we will be returning again.
A very disappointing end to what would have been a place that we would loved to have gone as regulars.Comment from Karen M.of Daddy O’s on Manners 9/03/2013 Hide »

I need to start by saying this place confuses me. It’s classy decor, piano playing upstairs eatery doesn’t really fit in on Manners Street ( but to be fair, what does ) and doesn’t really suit it’s menu. I love the food, the chocolate milkshake and the homemade potato chips are the best I have ever had. The homemade ketchup is amazing and the service is friendly enough ( please leave me to eat, the food is great – I complain otherwise)
Love the craft beer and alcohol menu. My only vice is the presentation. Great prices and love the piano playing but it is borderline too intimidating with the immediate service and by the time the band showed up there were more band members than patrons. After much thought; I compare this place to an awkward teenage girl going through her different phases to find herself. That , or everyone in Wellington needs to try these homemade chips to fill the place up to give it more energy. Seriously people – I save carbs for the weekends and this place doesn’t disappoint !

We went to Daddy O’s on the 2nd night of their new Summer menu. We both had the Eye Fillet for our main course, and we both agreed they were the best steaks we’ve had for quite some time.
Desserts were just as good – brulee and the special of blueberry cheesecake were exquisite.
It was hard to choose from the beverage list – Daddy O’s has a phenomenal craft beer menu from which I eventually chose 8 Wired Tall Poppy.
We couldn’t fault the service either. All round a superb dining experience and we will definitely be back!
