I dined here last night (31 March) with a friend visiting from out of town. We only had mains as we had been sampling Wellingtons food all day.
I had the Kung Po chicken which was lovely, the fresh salad and the prawns were a nice addition to the tasty chicken and crunchy vegetables. The portion size was perfect for me, and for the price. My friend had the nasi goreng platter and this looked really good as well. She enjoyed it. The service was attentive but not over-bearing, well done. Next time I will try an entree, and if I have room a dessert as well. -

Im afraid that after my meal there last night I wont be back.
We waited far too long to be served after being seated and the wait for our less than satisfying starter was appalling.
it took almost 40 minutes for them to serve us up 5 morsels of pork rib, which were over cooked and chewy. at $14 this was an absolute rip off. Im really happy that we didnt invest any more money in starters.
onto the mains, I can agree completely other reviewers who say the portion sizes were small for the price. I would have liked to have seen more on my plate.
the mains didnt arrive untill over an hour of being seated.
I had the orange beef, which was tasty but overpowering with orange. I didnt finish it which is extremely unusual, the other beef portion that came alongside again was pretty tasty but i couldnt tell if it was beef, pork or something else.
my partners duck was much nicer. the wraps were really nice and the other serving of duck was nicely balanced.
we avoided the desert menu as it was getting very late by the time we finished.
had it not been for the entertainment voucher I would have made a complaint about paying full price for a less than satisfying meal
atmosphere – 6 out of 10
service – 4 out of 10
price (without the card) – 3 out of 10
wont be back unless the portions get bigger, the service gets snappier or the price drops -

After trying a few times to grab a table for two at Red Ginger while in town, we finally booked a table in advance last weekend. I can see why this restaurant is always so busy. Our meal was superb! I like how every dish combines at least two distinct flavour combinations, although this made it tricky to choose from such an appealing menu. We began by sharing an entree of crispy seafood spring rolls with crumbed tiger prawn balls. These also came with pork and prawn dumplings served with pork harumaki – delicious! My partner had imperial orange beef for his main course (a favourite of his) while I enjoyed the fresh flavours of kung po chicken with Malaysian har lok peng. All the while we were eating, I kept thinking about how “fresh” the food was – not just the ingredients, but the flavours on the palette which were new twists on traditional recipes. Our service was warm and friendly, leaving us enough time to enjoy each course without feeling rushed. Although the decor is predominantly concrete, the environment is warm and inviting. We were impressed at how well the sound was absorbed, even while the restaurant was full. Highly recommended – we will definitely be back.

My partner and I went for dinner on a Saturday night, and had a really pleasant dining experience. We were impressed with the quality of food (the ingredients were lovely and fresh), and thought the servings were generous proportions. The staff were pleasant, and gave enough time to peruse the menu but without making us wait.
Red Ginger is in the Entertainment Book, and I think their pricing structure reflects this – that is, the prices are perhaps a little high, but are probably that way because many customers will use a voucher for ‘buy one get one free’ on mains. -

Having managed to codge a babysitter for a very rare night out with my husband we decided to take a risk and try somewhere new.
On the upside the service was exemplary, food arrived at perfect intervals and the beer/wine list was good.
On the downside. In a nutshell it was basically way overpriced, undersized, fancy Chinese.
For entrees we had the pork buns and pork potstickers. The pork buns were delicious but at $14 for two small buns way overpriced. The (two) pork and prawn potstickers were bland bland bland, the two accompanying small spring rolls were tasty but at $15 an absolute rort.
For mains I had the duck and my husband had the Phoenix chicken. Both were delicious but as others have commented at around $26 each the serving size was less than substantial.
For dessert my husband had the recommended coconut mousse which he said was delicious. I had the lemon sponge which was dry, I’m pretty sure tipped out of a Sara Lee packet and drowning in some awful commercial mango couli. The ice cream was cheap and nasty. Seriously, if you’re going to charge $14 for a dessert at least do the decent thing and serve good quality ice cream. **Beware they don’t list the dessert prices on the menu so I had no idea they were charging $14 until we got the bill, if I’d even suspected it was going to be that much I would have sent the lemon pudding back.**
At $120+ we will never be back unless someone else is footing the tab.
