I’m surprised at some of these reviews as I tried Soho Brown for the first time last Saturday and I was more than impressed with the price and quality of food.
I thought the decor was super cool, trendy and cosy. The service was fine.
The food looked fresh and inviting and there was lots to choose from. I had a club sandwich, hot savory and a nut tart. All came to a very reasonable price and all was very fresh and tasty.
I am sure to return to Soho Brown’s again. -

I had the lamb sandwich with aioli. It was very dry, with so little aioli and the lamb itself was not succulent. I also had the cheesecake as dessert which was not particularly outstanding, but all desserts in general was very reasonably priced.
As mentioned by other patrons, the service is not stellar. The cashier who served me could be friendlier. Cutlery also did not look very clean.
The ambience is the cafe is very nice. It does become really busy during lunchtime, and it could be a challenge to get a table.
All in all, I don’t think I will be visiting this cafe anytime in the near future. -

They started out great. lovely service and great food, now I ask myself why I keep coming back. Food disappointing, pies aren’t as good anymore and twice had a tuna roll which are the worst I have ever eaten. The service is terrible, unfriendly. The only nice member of staff I’ve noticed is a young girl who used to work for Wishbone. It doesn’t matter what time a day I’ve been in always the same. In at 11 this morning, very quiet. I wasn’t greeted at the door as a reply to a previous review stated, nor did I get a hello at the till. The only good thing here is there is a table I can work at while having a drink.
Maybe the owner should spend some time in a customers shoes. -

Visited SB for a quick morning tea today (Sat). While looking like an old style tea room both service and food were far from it.
Food looked relatively new/fresh.
No clean utensils to grab food from cabinets – none! What was there were tongs at the check out caked in food. When asked for tongs, received one set (for four of us to use)
I found hair hanging out the Cornish pastry.
The mini savouries? What was in them I’m not sure but hey should have been called mini fat filled savouries.
The other food purchased was tasteless, lukewarm and over greasy.
Staff reached over when serving drinks.
What was missing from Soho Brown? A love and appreciation of food and staff that care about customer service.Comment from dan b.of Soho Brown’s 10/04/2012Hi SJK, Thank you for your feedback, I’m sorry to hear that… More » -

I was shown this place when my husband said that it was new and looked really good. He had a coffee there while waiting for me last week. When we returned I asked him to take a closer look. We walked down the food line and I pointed out that if you take a good look you will see that most of the food looks dry and certainly not fresh. The pastries were aged looking and dry, the tarts were curling up their toes. The sandwiches and bread products looked tired. The salads looked as if they had seen better days and looked under dressed. The presentation of the biscuits on the counter did not thrill either. When “he who is so easily pleased” took a more in depth appraisal of what was on offer he laughed and said he had to agree…we left without purchasing. The old style cafeteria in line self help theme is an old idea and sets you back in time a bit. Introduced like this in such a prime spot in 2012 could be great but the quality of the food should not take you back in time as well.

Thank you for your feedback, Alexandra. I assure you that all our food is made fresh daily. The ingredients we use to make our food is fresh and produced by a chefs who tirelessly work around the clock to ensure the shelves are lined every morning with fresh delicious food. The Chefs can occasionally fall behind in replenishing the shelves throughout the day, as the popularity of our food is continually growing. Meaning the shelves are emptying quicker, making it hard for the chefs to keep up! But we pride ourselves on our food being fresh and tasty no matter what time of the day.
Please feel free to come in and try some of the food on the shelves and then let us know what you think.
